Lesson 12
The Discipline of Worship: Living a Life of Praise
Worship is not just a Sunday morning event but an everyday practice that involves giving God the honor, praise, and glory He is worthy of. While much of formal worship can feel passive, true worship is meant to be active and participatory—engaging our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. As Tozer reminds us, worship will continue throughout eternity, so learning to worship daily helps us draw closer to God now.
Worship nourishes our relationship with God, reminding us of His greatness and preventing us from taking ourselves too seriously. It shapes our faith, transforms our hearts, and draws us into deeper fellowship with Him. Worship happens whenever and wherever we glorify God and enjoy His presence—whether through silence, music, Scripture reading, prayer, or acts of celebration.
Worship can take many forms: singing psalms, writing songs or poetry, or offering prayers of adoration. Confession is also a part of worship, as it breaks down barriers between us and God and allows us to experience His forgiveness. When we celebrate God’s creation and the gifts He has given us, we engage in worship that honors Him.
Being intentional about worship means making it a regular part of our day—not just on Sunday but throughout every moment of life. The goal is to develop the habit of praising God daily so that worship becomes second nature and fills every aspect of our lives. Take care of your soul by worshiping God in all you do.
