Lesson 4

The Discipline of Lectio Divina: Engaging Scripture for Transformation

Lectio Divina, or “divine reading,” is an ancient practice of engaging with Scripture not for information, but for transformation. Unlike the typical way we read textbooks or articles, Lectio Divina invites us to treat Scripture as a love letter from God, cherished and revisited often. This practice involves reading a short passage slowly and repeatedly, allowing it to become part of us. With each reading, we reflect on what God is saying, respond to Him in prayer, and rest in His presence. There are four key steps: reading the passage, reflecting on its meaning, responding to God in prayer, and resting in His Word. Through this intentional, prayerful process, Lectio Divina deepens our connection with God, making room for His Spirit to nurture and transform our soul.
